Team of Michele and Raymond Archer Win at Chatfield Reservoir

From Division 13 July 19, 2010, Colorado - Michele and Raymond Archer from Ft. Collins win their very first event in the American Couples Series. Michele and Raymond take home $225.00 for their victory in the American Couples Series Team tournament held on Chatfield Reservoir. Michele and Raymond’s 4 bass limit weighed in at 4.56 pounds. The second place team was Jim Strawbridge and Sharon Below from Frederick with a weight of 4.37 pounds. Big bass was awarded to the team of Jim and Sharon with a 2.03 pound smallmouth bass. This event was Michele and Raymond’s fist event of the year and they said they look forward to fishing again. This is the closest weights the Colorado Couples Series has seen all year victory by less than a quarter pound. We have one more event for the 2010 season and hope we get the close weights we saw at Chatfield. Once again, thanks to all who participated, and congratulations to Michele and Raymond on their victory at their very first event.

Conditions: Conditions today was hot about 95 with periods of wind off and on. The water was warm and in the 70’s, with visibility of about 7’. We held this event on a Monday due to high volumes of boat traffic on weekends, but that didn’t seem to stop the recreational boaters from coming out anyway. The worst conditions were created by boat wake and made it hard for boat control. All couples made it back safely and no one was tossed in….good job ladies and gentlemen.

Winning Strategy: Winning strategy today was using senkos wacky rig on the rip rap Dam walls. Most of the fish were caught in about 8’-12’ feet of water. Michele and Raymond would cast them out….let them fall slowly to the bottom, and then reel in. They said if the didn’t get bit on the fall they would reel in and cast to a new spot. I think I’ll call that a power/finesse type fishing…lol.

Next Divisional Tournament: This division’s next tournament will be Sunday, August 15, 2010 on Pueblo Reservoir at the North Shore Ramp.

For more information on this or any future event in this division contact Jim & Sharon at 720 985-1204 or by email at: couplesseries@aol.com.
