Team of Peter and Dana Merkel Win at KY/Barkley Lake

From Division 8 on 6/27/10, KY & Barkley Lake – Peter and Dana Merkel from Lynville, IN are now one step closer to the American Couples Series Championship with this first place win in the American Couples Series team tournament held on Barkley Lake. Peter and Dana had a 5 bass limit that weighed in at 19.68 pounds. The second place team was and Tammy Barclay with a total weight of 17.64 pounds. The third place team was Wayne and Diane Winters from Crayne, KY with a weight of 15.24 pounds. Big bass award on the ladies side was Dana Merkel with a 4.08 pound largemouth and on the gentlemen’s side it was Peter Merkel with a 6.32 pound largemouth.

These teams are acquiring valuable points to insure their birth in National Championship that will be held this fall.

The top five teams were:
1. Peter & Dana Merkel        19.68 lbs.
2. Eddie & Tammy Barclay   17.64 lbs.
3. Wayne & Diane Winters    15.24 lbs.
4. Donnie & Lila Williams      14.82 lbs. 
5. Richard & Vickie Holt          9.40 lbs.

Conditions: We were in the midst of a heat wave, with temperatures reaching the upper 90’s, The Teams did another GREAT JOB keeping the fish alive, as they have been doing the last 3 years which shows their dedication to the care and preservation of our resources.

The American Couples Series offers team events for families with a $100 entry fee. All ABA anglers fish for money and points. The points advance the teams to the American Couples Series Championship.
