Russell and Denise Mason Win at the Red River

From Division 10, 11 Oct 09,  Louisiana North - Russell and  Denise Mason from  Bossier City, LA are now one step closer to the American Couples Series Championship with this 1st Place win and $270 in the American Couples Series Team tournament held on (the Red River) Lake this past weekend.  (Russell and Denise’s 5 bass limit weighed in at 9.74 pounds. The second place team was Dennis and Julie Mitchell from Elm Grove, LA  with a weight of 7.04 pounds. The third place team was Jeremy and Julee Botica from Haughton, LA with a total weight of 2.40 pounds. Big bass was awarded on the ladie’s side to Denise Mason with a 2.33 pound bass and on the gentlemen’s side it was Jeremy Botica with a 2.40 pound bass.

These teams are acquiring valuable points to insure their birth in National Championship that will be held this fall.

The top five teams were:
1. Russell/Denise Mason  – 9.74
2. Dennis/Julie Mitchell – 7.04
3. Jeremy/Julee Botica – 2.40
4. Bo/Tina Keith – 1.64

Conditions: High muddy water combined with rain, overcast skies and the occasional wind gusts to around 15 mph. Temps stayed in the 50s all day.

Winning Strategy: The winner’s caught their fish on plastics in 3-9 ft.  They reported catching more than 30 fish fish including about 15 keepers.

The American Couples Series offers team events for families with a $100 entry fee. All ABA anglers fish for money and points. The points advance the teams to the American Couples Series Championship.
