Askew's Claim Top Prize at Couples National 

Bruce and Diane Askew of Lawrenceville, Georgia took home the title of Couples National Champion at the 2016 Couples National held at Lake Hartwell in Anderson, South Carolina. Running out of Green Pond Landing, the Askews brought in a five fish limit on both days of the tournament. On day one, their weight was 10.36 pounds and on day two their weight was 14.27 pounds giving them a two-day total of 24.63 pounds. They took home $4,000 for their efforts. This win secured the Angler of the Year title for the team as well. For this, they took home a TH Marine prize pack, a Doctor Dans supply box, and two Abu Garcia Revo XS.

Jimmy and Jean Isom of Cropwell, Alabama won the American Couples Series, operated by American Bass Anglers, Central Alabama D1 event held September 24th on Lake Martin.

Pam and Ken Draskovic Win on Guntersville

Pam and Ken Draskovic from Scottsboro, Alabama topped the field in the Alabama North Couples Tour season opening event held on Lake Guntersville this past Saturday, September 17th. Their total weight of 12.76 pounds locked in the victory. Pam won ladies Big Bass with a 2.21 pound fish while Ken received men’s Big Bass honors with a 3.31 pound largemouth. Lake Guntersville has been very tough to fish lately and this tournament was no exception. The Draskovic's were the only team to weigh in a limit. Their success was credited to the use of frogs and topwater lures.

Garlen and Ford Win on Lake Guntersville

Rhonda Ford of Rome, Georgia and Mike Garlen of Athens, Alabama won the final Alabama North Couples Trail event held on Lake Guntersville this past weekend, on August 20th. They landed 13.97 pounds of fish with Mike winning men’s Big Bass pot with a 4.63 pound largemouth.

Bryan and Lisa Talmadge Win on Weiss

Bryan and Lisa Talmadge of Moody, Alabama dominated the eight teams competing in the Alabama North Couples Trail event held on Weiss Lake in Cedar Bluff, Alabama this past weekend. They landed 20.49 pounds for their limit and captured ladies and men’s big bass pots weighing 5.54 pounds and 5.87 pounds. Bryan and Lisa relied upon jigs for the win.

The American Couples Series

The American Couples Series offers team tournaments with a family theme.  Teams are comprised of one male and one female partner and they fish together against other teams that are arranged in the same manner. Teams win cash awards, prizes and can advance the annually held championship.

Competitive angling is a lot of fun when you’re teamed with a best friend.  This is especially true in ABA’s Couples Series.

As you might expect, many teams are married couples.  But, the series also has plenty of teams with girlfriend-boyfriend, parent-child, grandparent-grandchild, friends and relatives.  The only requirement is that teams have one female and one male member.

Pam and Ken Draskovic Win on Lake Wheeler

Ken and Pam Draskovic of Scottsboro, Alabama bested the field during the Alabama North Couples Trail event held on Lake Wheeler this past Saturday, June 11, 2016. They landed a five fish limit weighing 8.58 pounds to clinch the win. Winning lures for Ken and Pam were topwaters and crankbaits. They caught their final two fish in the final 30 minutes of the day.

A Clear Victory for Susan and John Mills

Twenty-three teams showed up for the last tournament of the South Carolina Couples’ season on Lake Greenwood on June 4.  The One-Stop Marina opened early to provide snacks, coffee and, of course, restroom availability. A pleasant 70 degree morning gave way to a warm 90 degree afternoon as the early signs of summer started to show.

Donathan and Sherry Jacks won the American Couples Series, operated by American Bass Anglers, Central Alabama Division 1 tournament, held May 21, 2016, on the Alabama River. Running out of Cooter’s Pond in Prattville, the team from Clanton, AL, caught five bass weighing 12.36 pounds. For the victory, they earned a check for $585. The Jacks’ caught their fish shallow using a swim jig. Sherry won the Woman’s Big Fish contest with a 4.33-pound lunker.
