Robert and Cindy Linton Win on Kentucky Lake
It was a beautiful day for fishing on Kentucky Lake, 80 degrees, slight breeze and lots of sunshine. Most teams headed for the infamous ledges of this “legendary” lake. The fishing was tough for most, yet exceptional for others. This was our 4th tournament of the year and our 4th different winner. Twelve teams participated this Sunday and the points race for the Divisional Championship became very tight. We had 36 bass weighed for a total of 105.04 pounds, paying out over $1,000 for the top 3 finishers and the 2 big bass pools.
Secret and Corey York secured 2nd place with a 5 fish limit weighing in at 15.49 pounds. They also found their fish on ledges with jigs and swim baits. This mother and son team took home $300 for their efforts.
Third place went to Eddie and Tammy Barclay with another 5 fish limit of 15.48 pounds, finishing just short of second place. Fishing Carolina rigs on ledges at the mouths of bays. Their limit was anchored by a great 6.98 pound largemouth that secured Men’s Big Bass for the day. The Barclay’s took a total of $185 home for third place and Men’s Big Bass. Tammy pictured above is holding Eddie's Big Bass of the day.
Ladies Big Bass was taken by Debbie Warner. It was a nice 3.77 pound largemouth netting her $60 for the day.
Mike and Donna Roe took 4th place with 5 fish weighing 11.21 pounds.
5th place was taken by Jay and Shari Holsapple with 3 fish weighing 11.09 pounds.
Sam Gotsch and Michelle Chinn finished 6th with a 5 fish total of 10.29 pounds.
The points race is extremely tight as we approach our last two events. The top three teams, Holsapples, Lintons, and Barclays are separated by only 2 points. It will be an exciting finish to our season.
There were drinks and snacks at the weigh-in. Bubba and Kim Tywater, along with Sam Gotsch and Michelle Chinn were the lucky draw winners of non-cash prizes. We will be giving away much more in future tournaments, with some great prizes available at the last tournament of the season. Renegade Marine of Leitchfield, Kentucky and Duckett Fishing of Guntersville, Alabama have also joined the Kentucky Lake Division 8 Trail by committing to donating some exciting gifts for our final tournament.
Our next tournament will be held on Kentucky Lake at the Fenton ramp on July 16th. We will launch at 6:00 AM and weigh-in at 2:00 PM. We will be at the ramp for boat check and late registrations at 5:15 AM.
