Jimmy & Jean Isom Win on Martin
Jimmy and Jean Isom of Cropwell, Alabama won the American Couples Series, operated by American Bass Anglers, Central Alabama D1 event held September 24th on Lake Martin.
Running out of Windcreek State Park in Alexander City, Alabama the team caught five bass weighing 8.06 pounds. For the victory, they earned a check for $375. The Isom’s caught their fish on deeper secondary points with worms. Jimmy won Man’s Big Fish with a 3.60 pound lunker.
In second was Robert and Crystal Brown. They caught five bass weighing 6.18 pounds.
Taking third place, the team of Terry Durham and Ann Boatright caught five bass weighing 5.79 pounds. Ann won the Woman’s Big Fish contest with a 1.50-pounder.
All ABA American Couples Series events involve a team format with each team composed of one man and one woman. Contestants between 14 and 18 years old may participate with a parent’s written permission.
The next divisional tournament to kick off the 2017 season is October 29th on Lay Lake. Launch site TBA. The top angling couples from across the nation earn the right to compete in the annual American Bass Anglers Couples Series National Championship tournament.
