Jimbo and Pattie McClain Win on Lay Lake
Jimbo and Pattie McClain won the Division 1 Central Alabama American Couples Series tournament held November 7, 2015 on Lay Lake. Running out of Paradise Point Marina near Shelby, the team from Alexander City, AL, caught five bass weighing 14.17 pounds. Jimbo won Man’s Big Fish with a 4.22-pound kicker. For the victory, they earned a check for $495.00. The McClain’s caught their fish on deeper points with a shaky head worm and in shallow grass using a swim jig.
In second for the 11 teams, Joseph and Dimple Clevinger of Troy, AL, caught five bass weighing 13.39 pounds. They caught most of their fish on sea walls with a jerk bait and pocketed a check for $330.00. Dimple won the Woman’s Big Fish contest with a 3.18-pound lunker that she caught on a shaky head worm.
Taking third place, the team of Bobby and Sandra Holman of Brookwood, AL, caught five bass weighing 10.19 pounds. In fourth place, Doug & Rosemarie Goodall of Wetumpka, AL, caught five bass weighing 9.30 pounds. Terry Durham from McCalla and Ann Boatright of Cleveland, AL, rounded out the top five with five bass limit weighing 9.27 pounds.
All ABA American Couples Series events involve a team format with each team composed of one man and one woman. Contestants between 14 and 18 years old may participate with a parent’s written permission.The top angling couples from across the nation earn the right to compete in the annual American Bass Anglers Couples Series National Championship tournament.
