Jimbo and Pattie McClain win on Lay Lake
ATHENS, Ala. – Jimbo and Pattie McClain won the American Couples Series, operated by American Bass Anglers, Central Alabama Division 1 tournament, held May, 16, 2015, on Lay Lake.
Running out of Paradise Point Marina near Shelby, the team from Alexander City, AL, caught 5 bass weighing 12.56 pounds with a 3.48-pound kicker. For the victory, they earned a check for $563.00. The McClain’s caught their fish on shaky head in shallow grass.
In second for the 15 teams, Shawn and Jamie Wikoff of Smiths Station, AL, caught 5 bass weighing 12.10 pounds.They caught their fish on Ssim jig in shallow grass and pocketed a check for $338. Shawn won the Men’s Big Fish contest with a 4.34-pound lunker
Taking third place, the team of Donathon & Sherry Jacks of Clanton, AL, caught 5 bass weighing 11.71 pounds. They caught their fish on lizards and pocketed a check for $225. Sherry won the Ladies Big Fish title with a 3.53-pound lunker.
In fourth place, Wayne and Lisa Cox of Pace, FL, caught 5 bass weighing 11.56 pounds with a 2.40-pound kicker. Lynn and Linda Oswalt of Jasper, AL, rounded out the top five teams with 5 bass weighing 11.22 pounds.
All ABA American Couples Series events involve a team format with each team composed of one man and one woman. Contestants between 14 and 18 years old may participate with a parent’s written permission.
The next divisional tournament TBA. The top angling couples from across the nation earn the right to compete in the annual American Bass Anglers Couples Series National Championship tournament.
