Terry Durham & Ann Boatright win on Lay Lake

ATHENS, Ala. – Terry Durham and Ann Boatright won the American Couples Series, operated by American Bass Anglers, Central Alabama Division 1 tournament, held May 19, 2018, on Lay Lake.

Running out of the 400 Ramp in Shelby, AL, they caught 5 bass weighing 13.47 pounds. For the victory, they earned a check for $405.00. Terry won Man’s Big Fish with a 4.42 pound lunker. They caught their fish in 5 to 8 feet of water on soft plastics.

In second for the 9 teams, Floyd Vaughn and Denice Howard caught five bass weighing 12.04 pounds.  They pocketed a check for $270.00.  Floyd’s 3.13-pound big fish broke the tie for second. 

Taking third place, the team of Matt and Emily Dean caught 5 bass weighing 12.04 pounds.  

In fourth place, Bobby and Sandra Holman caught 5 bass weighing 11.92 pounds.  

Scott and Beth Malock rounded out the top five teams with 5 bass weighing 10.82 pounds.  

Sugar Walker won the Woman’s Big Fish contest with a 4.02 pounder.

All ABA American Couples Series events involve a team format with each team composed of one man and one woman. Contestants between 14 and 18 years old may participate with a parent’s written permission.

The next divisional tournament will be June 2nd on Logan Martin Lake out of Clear Creek Harbor Marina. The top angling couples from across the nation earn the right to compete in the annual American Bass Anglers Couples Series National Championship tournament.
